Rev. Kendra Grimes is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. Prior to her role as College Chaplain, Kendra was on staff at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church, on the corner of campus. She has also served as Chaplain at United Methodist Family Services in Richmond, Va. Kendra has pastored congregations in both Virginia and Georgia. She is a graduate of Berry College and Candler School of Theology at Emory University. Kendra is mother to two young adults (Ella and Lucas) and four cats (Mechumps, Lion, Tiger, and Bear.) Reflecting upon her own college experience, her college chaplain (Rev. Larry Green) filled a significant role offering personal and spiritual support along with vocational discernment support too. Kendra strives to do this for our RMC community in her role as College Chaplain.
Religious Life student groups join together in the RMC Campus Ministry Council. Each group has a student and a faculty/staff representative. Together, this interfaith group plans campus-wide worship, learning, and service opportunities. There are currently five officially recognized religious life groups at RMC:
A weekly meeting on Monday nights for Bailey scholars, students with the Pre-Ministerial Grant, or any student who is exploring a call to Christian ministry. For more information, contact the Chaplain.

Woven in throughout the semester, these events offer a welcoming space for all students to come together. Come visit with Chaplain Grimes if you have ideas or a desire to connect with others who share your religious identity.
A weekly Zoom gathering for spiritual renewal on Thursdays from noon until 12:15 p.m. This event is open to all RMC Community members, whether you identify with a particular religious tradition or not. Note: As clergy, the Chaplain is a non-mandated reporter and thus can support students who have experienced sexual violence without engaging the federally-mandated Title IX process.
This exceptional program provides financial aid, weekly meetings, internship opportunities, and more for students discerning a call to Christian ministry. The program awards generous half-tuition scholarships for your freshman/sophomore years, and full tuition scholarships for your junior/senior years.

RMC Cares is a special discretionary fund handled through the Chaplain’s Office, which offers financial support to faculty, staff, or students in times of emergency need. This fund is supported entirely through the generosity of our community and is not part of the regular college budget.
Requests are typically for needs related to medical care, family emergencies, and other unexpected expenses. RMC cares is not designed for ongoing and expected expenses such as rent, credit card debt, or educational expenses (tuition, books, fees, etc.). The type of assistance offered by this program can help a community member avoid pay-day loans in a time of emergency.
Anyone requesting assistance may call/email the Office of the Chaplain for an application, or click聽聽for an online form. Documentation of need must be demonstrated, and assistance may or may not be made payable to the applicant. Assistance may be offered as a gift or as a loan and may not be made payable to the applicant.
All faculty, staff, and students are invited to contribute as they are able. Some college employees participate in聽regular payroll deductions聽and others make a one-time donation through the business office. Donations should come in the form of a check, not cash, and are also accepted from beyond the college community. Donations are聽not聽tax deductible in accordance with IRS guidelines.
