The Competitive Advantage

A two-day professional skill immersion program, Boot Camp helps students identify their career passions and hone their interview and communication skills as they prepare for life after college. It is offered twice/year and is required for all sophomores. Highlights of the Boot Camp experience include:

  • An inspiring keynote address. The most recent keynote speaker was RMC alumnus Dr. Kenneth White, who is the Principal of Highland Springs High School. The title of his very interactive and engaging presentation was How to Create an Edge to be Successful.
  • Sessions include:
    • The Path to Financial Success
    • The Self-Aware Leader: Preparing for Professional Life
    • Connect, Communicate, Succeed: Interview Techniques that Win!
  • An etiquette dinner to learn the finer points of professional manners
  • Mock interviews – practice your personal story and answering questions, posed by alumni, faculty, staff, and other business volunteers. The ultimate preparation for your future job search!
  • Networking events, where you’ll have the chance to connect directly with alumni who are working in the community

In accordance with the RMC Four-Year Degree Guarantee, all sophomores must attend Boot Camp. Questions? Contact the Edge Career Center:

Our Boot Camps are successful because of the support of our community of faculty, staff, and alumni volunteers. Volunteers conduct mock interviews and attend the event’s pre-reception and meal, offering students a real window into the world of networking and interviewing! There are two key opportunities to volunteer for spring 2024 Boot Camp. We would love to have you join us for both or just one, if are available!

  • Pre-Dinner Networking Reception and Etiquette Dinner- Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 5:30pm to 8:00pm You will help students to practice networking skills at a reception and over a meal as a table host.
  • Edge Boot Camp Mock Interviews – Sunday, October 20, 2024, 10:45am – 3:00pm (*Requires most volunteers)
You will be provided with interview questions and an overview of the process of interviewing students and providing feedback. You’ll also join fellow volunteers for lunch.
