Refer a Yellow Jacket Frequently Asked Questions

Can I Refer Multiple Students?

You can (and should!) refer as many qualified students as youd like!

I am not an Alumnus or Alumna of the College, Can I Refer a Student?

Yes. We encourage community members, faculty, staff, and even current students to refer prospective students. Simply select N/A under graduation year on the form.

Can I Refer Family Members?

You may refer family members like cousins, but legacy students (children, siblings, or grandchildren of alumni) will be eligible for a Legacy Grant instead.

If you are the parent, grandparent, or sibling of the student you had planned to refer, we invite you to encourage a friend who is connected to the College to refer that student instead. Children of RMC employees are eligible for tuition remission but not the Refer a Yellow Jacket program.

How is the Award Administered?

The award will be added to the admitted students financial aid package and credited to the students account in the Business Office.

What If a Student is Referred by More Than One Alumnus or Ambassador?

A student will be eligible for just one award, given in the name of the first referrer.

After I Submit a Referral, What Can I do to Help Bring the Student to RMC?

Wed love your help in helping the student discover if they are a good fit at RMC. We encourage you to share your own positive experiences with both the student and their family. We find that a visit to campus is a critical element in students decisions, so encourage them to visit and make connections with current students, connect with the College on social media, and explore rmc.edu.

If I Refer a Student, How Will I be Updated?

The College will be in touch to confirm that your referral has been received. However, federal privacy laws prevent us from sharing any information about a students interactions with the College without the students consent, including application submissions and admission decisions. We encourage you to reach out personally to the referred student to let them know youve referred them, and to inquire about the students status. This will protect the students privacy and encourage a one-on-one relationship, which will be beneficial to the student in the years to come!
