The Center for the Performing Arts at RMC, which opened in 2021, is the hub of a rich community of performers. Students have a range of opportunities that might surprise you for a school of our scale; it’s not uncommon for students to participate in more than one. Students earning degrees in music and theatre join non-majors in ensembles and productions (and all are eligible for scholarships).
Students can audition for as many opportunities as might fit their talents! Though each student will be ultimately awarded no more than one scholarship, they may be welcomed to participate in several ensembles and/or theatre.
Below, you’ll find the four types of auditions available and links to details about how to prepare to show us your best for each kind of audition. If you find you cannot attend one of our pre-scheduled audition dates, please reach out to the program director to arrange a private or even virtual audition.
51吃瓜网’s theatre program stages 2-4 productions each year, where theatre majors and non-majors come together to bring art to the Cobb-Kesler Theater stage. Students are considered for scholarship opportunities based on their plans to participate in these productions, either as actors or in technical roles behind the scenes.
Instrumental auditions evaluate musicians for participation in Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and Jazz Improvisation Laboratory. All three are led by Dr. Brian Coffill, Director of Instrumental Ensembles, and participation is for academic credit.
Choral auditions evaluate musicians for participation in the Concert Choir and Chamber Choir. These storied vocal ensembles are led by Dr. Antonio Hunt, Director of Choral Ensembles. Participation is for academic credit.
A co-curricular choir led by director Adam Pulver, the show choir (and the show band that accompanies them) offers a chance to perform in concerts that pair vocals with choreography and exciting sets and costumes.
