News Story categories: Student Life

The RMC Committee on Admissions, Recruitment, and Scholarships (CARS) is pleased to announce that it is soliciting applications for the following scholarships for the 2024-2025 academic year. Financial need will be a significant consideration when determining award recipients. All applications are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, April 12. If, due to limited computer and/or internet access, you need additional assistance with the application, please contact Dr. Laura Wen (laurawen@rmc.edu), CARS Chair. Due to a delay in federal FAFSA reports, we will update the scholarship amounts when those come in.

The T. McNider Simpson, Jr. Scholarship recognizes students who have demonstrated superior academic performance, creative leadership, and a wide range of interests. Preference will be given to rising juniors and seniors.

The Simpson-Cottrell Research Scholarship honors rising juniors or seniors engaged in serious, course-related research in the humanities (preference is given to those conducting work in history, literature, or philosophy). Research should be ongoing or begin during the next academic year. The recipients must have plans to present their research in a formal manuscript or presentation.

The Ira M. Lechner Scholarship is intended to support students interested in public service following graduation. Students receiving this scholarship must agree to enter public service for a minimum of two years following their graduation from 51³Ô¹ÏÍø. The form of public service may include state, local, or federal government (except military) service, the Peace Corps, work with the homeless or disadvantaged, or work with a non-profit agency engaged in human service work. The scholarship may also be awarded to veterans of The Iraq and Afghanistan Wars. Applicants should have superior academic records and strong leadership qualities, and be actively involved in one or more public service activities, such as those associated with government agencies, political groups, community outreach, or work with disadvantaged or disabled populations.

The scholarships cannot be awarded to students who already have full tuition scholarships.

To apply: To apply for one or more of these scholarships, log into My Macon Web and go to Student > Forms > Scholarship Application Forms to find the applications. Select the link for the application you would like to complete. Each application requires two references from the RMC community, and the Simpson-Cottrell application requires that one of the references is your research advisor. We recommend working on the application essays on your own machine first, so they are not accidentally lost, and contacting your references before submitting the application. Your referees will receive a link to submit their references once you submit your application. Please submit your application before the deadline (5 p.m. on Friday, April 12th) so your referees have enough time to submit their references.
